At least 129 men from the Rockland Valley in Idaho served in World War II and another 44 served in the Korean War. Remarkably , only one of them, Logan W. Ewing was killed in action. One other man, Dennis M. White, was accidently killed during training.
Dale C. Tyler, Lamar H. Whittier , Raymond Max Whittier and Alvin Haskell were all severely wounded.
Presently, only six veterans of World War II and the Korean War still reside in the Rockland Valley. Paul Howard Sjelin, 89, William Edward Holderby, 86, Milton Poulson, 86, Roland Lloyd Barnard, 82, all served in the European and Pacific theaters and Leo Carlyle Udy, 81, James Juan Spillet, also 81, and Robert Radford, 77, all served in Korea.
